Timber Floor Sanding & Resurfacing Experts in Newcastle

Absolute Floor Sanding is your local expert in Newcastle and surrounds for floor sanding services. If you have timber floors that are worn, scratched or marked then look no further than AFS. Whether your floors are in high-traffic commercial spaces or regular domestic properties we have the skills and equipment to give them a new lease of life.

Minimal Dust

Our sanders are fitted with commercial dust extractors enabling a process that generates minimal dust, thereby reducing the impact on your home or business.

Preparation Is Key

Before the sanding process can begin, we will inspect your floor thoroughly to ensure it is fully prepared. We will then undertake nail punching, gap filling, spot repairs (where necessary), and buffing. We will always approach your new floor or restoration using the best methods for the best results.

What Sanding Will Do To Your Floors

Sanding will reduce the surface of your floors by a few millimetres. We will only re-sand enough to remove any surface scratches and marks so that the staining process will not be compromised. Re-sanding your floors will leave them super flat and level with surfaces ready to absorb whatever stain and finish you desire.

Right Flooring Tools For The Job

At AFS much of the quality of our results comes from our expertise and skillset, but also our tools. We only use the best tools for the job in order to meet our standards, they include:

  • gler Hummel: a highly regarded German-engineered belt sander known for its precision and durability. It is an industry-standard machine that, efficiently delivers a smooth finish over large areas, removing old finishes, and levelling surfaces. It has a very efficient dust collection system and makes the sanding process cleaner and more efficient
  • American Sanders Super 7R Edger: a trusted, high-performance tool designed for precision edging. It’s known for its durability and efficiency. The edger is designed to reach into tight spaces, corners, and edges that larger machines can’t access. It ensures a consistent finish across the floor
  • Polivac SV30 Suction Floor Sander: a powerful high-speed machine known for its efficiency and dust control. Ideal for fine sanding and polishing, it delivers a smooth, uniform finish while its advanced suction system minimizes dust, ensuring a cleaner and more professional result
  • Norton & SIA Abrasives: Trusted brands for sanding belts and discs, known for their durability and effectiveness

These machines handle the bulk of our sanding work with their high-end performance and reliability. They are well-regarded in the industry and have great reputations for delivering excellent results. They are essential tools for achieving professional results but they’re not always used by all professional floor sanders. This is one of the reasons we can work both timely and efficiently.

FAQs

Yes. You can just get us to sand your floors leaving you to stain, polish, wax or finish them yourselves, but generally speaking, this is the most skilled part of the process so most customers will have us undertake the whole floor polishing and restoration process for the best results

Yes but with some limitations. For regular cosmetic scratches spanning large areas or affecting multiple floorboards, professional floor sanding and polishing are often necessary. This process involves sanding the entire floor surface to achieve a smooth, even finish, effectively eliminating scratches and other imperfections like scuff and stain removal, dulling of finish, discolouration or fading, uneven wear in high traffic areas, peeling or flaking of finish and replacing damaged boards. For deep scratches or damage that affect the structure of the flooring then often boards will need to be replaced as sanding is insufficient but we will always discuss this with you as part of a free on-site estimate

No. Each job and aims are unique so we quote according to the job so that you aren’t paying for anything you don’t need. Just give us a call for a free, no-obligation, accurate quote for your floor
